"LRRP"
by
Ron Petitt

Shortly after U.S. military ground troops were commited to the Vietnam conflict in 1965,  Long Range Reconnaisance Patrol teams were established.  LRRP training included jungle survival, field medicine, land navigation, helicopter insertion and extraction.

While the primary function of the four man LRRP team was intelligence gathering,  they were often used to locate enemy positions and call in air or artillary fire.

This sculpture is equipped with slant pocket jungle fatigues, head band, CAR-15 rifle, ALICE gear with ammo pouches and grenades, canteens, combat knife and jungle boots.
