"HELICOPTER PILOT-1"
BY
RON PETITT

By the late 1960's it was clear that the use of the helicopter had a dramatic impact on America's ability to fight the Vietnam war.

While the original mission of the helicopter pilot  was to transport troops to and from the battlefield, and to despense devastating firepower on the enemy, they would also be responsible for saving thousands of lives by flying into the face of fire to evacuate the wounded.

This sculpture is equipped with the late model two piece Nomex fire resistent flight suit and gloves, standard flight helmet, and .38  Smith & Wesson revolver with shoulder holster.
