On February 3rd 1959,  J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson died in an airplane crash along with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.  It was truly "The day the music died".

Artist Ron Petitt has been commissioned to create a life size bronze sculpture of The Big Bopper.   Ron is working closely with Jay (Big Bopper Jr.) Richardson to insure this tribute to his father captures the true spirit of the Big Bopper for generations to come.
