Artist Ron Petitt was commissioned by the family of Capt. Charles "Chic" Burlingame to create a memorial sculpture in his memory. Capt. Burlingame was the pilot of the ill-fated AA Flight 77 that was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. This table-top sculpture is based on a photo taken of a five-year-old "Chic" Burlingame showing off a hand-built wooden airplane. "Chic", who dreamed of being a pilot, built the plane from scrap lumber found in the family garage.
